How It Works
Bring the vehicle and your current registration. New to Rhode Island? Vehicles registered in the state need an inspection within 5 days of registration.
Rhode Island combines the safety check and the emissions test in one visit. We check brakes, tires, lights, steering, suspension, and your emissions system.
Pass, and you drive out with a sticker valid for 24 months. The state inspection fee is $55, set by the Rhode Island DMV.
Most Rhode Island vehicles need a safety and emissions inspection every 2 years. For the full official rules, see the Rhode Island DMV inspection requirements.
Safety First
No Surprises
If something fails, we show you exactly what and why, and give you a straight, no-pressure quote for the repair. You are never obligated to fix it with us.
Rhode Island gives you 30 days to make repairs and return to the same station for a free reinspection, so a failed inspection doesn't have to mean paying twice.
